- Do I need to be a club member compete at WMC Autocrosses?
Club membership is not required to participate in our events, our events
are open to the public. One of the benefits of club membership is a
discounted price to participate in WMC events.
- What do I need to do to compete at WMC Autocrosses?
To compete in our Autocross events, you need to be age 16 or older with a
valid driver's license. Competitors under age 18 must have a parent or
guardian present to sign our insurance waiver.
Your vehicle must pass a tech inspection, meaning it needs to be in
good and safe running condition.
Things we look for in a tech inspection include:
No excessive Play in wheel bearings
Good Tire condition
No loose or missing lug nuts/bolts
Braking system in good condition
Battery is secure (No Zip-Ties, must be securely fastened down)
Throttle return works
No excessive fluid leakage
Clean interior, no loose items in vehicle
Functional seat belts
A helmet is also required. See below for helmet specifications.
- I am a novice, can I attend WMC events?
Yes, novices are welcome at all WMC events! If you are a novice, let the
people at registration know and they will help you get registered and set you
up for a course walk. Our events are split into morning and afternoon sessions.
Novices are welcome during both sessions. An experienced club member will be
assigned to take novices through a detailed course walk to familiarize them with
the course of the day.
- What kind of helmet do I need to participate in WMC events?
A helmet is required. You may use your own or the club has loaner helmets
available for use. If you bring your own, it must be rated SNELL M95 or
SA95 or better.
- How do I figure out what class my car belongs in?
Determining which class a vehicle belongs in is the responsibility of the
competitors. If you are not sure which class your car should be in,
you can find out here: 2009 SCCA Rules
- Can I have a passenger at WMC Autocrosses? / Can I be a passenger at WMC Autocrosses?
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Only 1 passenger per vehicle. NO ONE under 16 years of age.
- How old do I need to be to compete in WMC events?
Driver's minimum age of 18 with valid driver's license.
OR
Driver's ages 16 and 17 require valid driver's license(no permits) and parental attendance(mandatory).
