The Club

THE HISTORY
The WMC was formed in 1955 in Salem, Oregon for the purpose of furthering interest in motoring as a sport, to encourage the enjoyment of car driving and maintenance, to promote observation of traffic laws and courteous driving habits. In general, to organize and plan automotive events and functions of mutual interest.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
When we are not busy competing or organizing events, club members enjoy several social activities during the year. These usually include a July picnic, a Thanksgiving Wine Tour and a December awards dinner, with occasional club tours, campouts and trips to Sykart (indoor go-karts) in Tigard.

CHARITIES
Willamette Motor Club is a non-profit corporation. Club dues and event fees cover the expenses of hosting events and maintaining equipment. Excess funds are returned to the community as charitable contributions. In recent years, Willamette Motor Club has supported the Oregon School for the Blind, the McKay High School Auto Shop Program, the Red Cross, Nestucca Rural Fire District, and local public safety organizations.

MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETING
We meet in Salem at 7:00 PM on the third Thursday of the month.  Round Table Pizza in Keizer Station has permanently closed.

See the Club Main Page for current meeting location and virtual attendance details.

DO I NEED A SPORTS CAR?
No. This is a popular misconception. Willamette Motor Club is open to the public, open to anyone, no matter what you drive. Certainly, some members have sports cars, but many others have pickup trucks and econoboxes. We are an equal opportunity club! All you need is an interest in things automotive.  One note… our competition events do have some vehicle restrictions, particularly for rollover prevention.  A general guideline is that your vehicle needs to be wider than it is tall.  See specific event rules for additional details.

HOW CAN I JOIN?
You can become a member either at one of our monthly business meetings or at any of our events.
